Community Support & Acoustic Preservation Manifesto
Four Decades of Independent Sound Innovation in The Hague
In response to historic threats to municipal cultural subsidies, the Hague arts community, international composers, and local broadcaster Den Haag FM rallied to preserve Studio LOOS as an irreplaceable artistic breeding ground (broedplaats).
Founded by woodwind virtuoso and composer Peter van Bergen, Studio LOOS represents more than 40 years of continuous cultural investment: a dedicated physical laboratory where experimental musicians could take acoustic and technical risks impossible in commercial venues.
Today, that visionary commitment to open, accessible sound research lives on in the digital domain. By providing free, browser-based, client-side Web Audio engineering tools and scientific acoustic guides, Studio LOOS ensures that cutting-edge audio tools remain universally accessible to all creators worldwide without financial barriers.
